About: I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and grew up alongside Texas4000 without ever being fully aware of the magnitude of this organization and its mission. The Texas4000 logo, the uniforms of the cyclists, and the celebratory send off are intimately familiar and comforting images. As I got older and could actually understand what the Texas 4000 riders embarked upon in their year and a half mission, I knew that I would support them or be one of them in the future.

Why I Ride

I will ride for those I did not meet and did not get the privilege to know. My grandfather, Pops, died when I was just two years old, of complications from cancer treatment. I have no memory of my grandfather because I was so young but still his loss has impacted me greatly I have felt the ripples of his absence. I will also be riding for my grandmother, Mimi, who lost her husband too young and for my great aunt who has had cancer but luckily it was caught early and quickly removed. The impact that cancer has had on my life--though still so much farther removed than it has been for others--has been so profound I am honored to ride to fight cancer.
