About:
Hi everyone and welcome to my rider page! My name is Aileen, and I am a senior studying Management Information Systems with minors in Design and Educational Psychology. I was born in Dallas and grew up moving around frequently. Some places I've called home include Lagos, Beijing, Jakarta, and Houston, where I picked up my love of two-season climates, family-style meals, ecotourism, and most of all, hearing a diverse array of stories from people with backgrounds differing vastly from mine. Outside of school, you can find me religiously browsing Eater, making playlists, running, and obsessing over the newest Trader Joe's snack.
I am incredibly excited to be on this 18-month journey to bike 4,000+ miles with the most passionate, kind-hearted teammates. I ride for my uncle, who is currently battling lung cancer, and for all the families that have been impacted by cancer in any capacity. In line with being able to connect with different people through stories, something that I can speak to and want to continue to understand is all the nuances of coping with a cancer diagnosis within the family. Through my summer ride, I hope to be a part of the support system for individuals going through that experience.
Please feel free to reach out to me at aileenlu1163@gmail.com if you or anyone in your life has been affected by cancer. I would be honored to hear your stories and ride for you.
To Alaska and back,
Aileen
