About: Hi! My name is Ramya and I’m a senior studying Biomedical Engineering and Plan II. Aside from Texas 4000, I’m involved in Texas Spirits, the Student Engineering Council, Projects with Underserved Communities, and C.D. Doyle Clinic. I grew up here in Austin, TX (and I'm still growing!) and because I don’t really know how to describe myself, here’s a small list of things I love:
- my family and friends
- dogs
- Google Drive
- trying to keep my plants alive
- grocery shopping
- headstands
- Jazz apples
- other people killing bugs for me

Why I Ride

First and foremost, I ride for my mom, a breast cancer survivor. She’s the one I call too many times in a day, my rock, my source of strength, my inspiration, and exactly the kind of person I want to be. She’s my person, and never once during her grueling treatment did she let me forget it. My mom has recovered really, really well, but I know cancer has left her with a permanent worry for her health. She, nor any other cancer patient or survivor, doesn’t deserve to feel like her health is not in her control. She doesn’t deserve to have her optimism tainted. I ride for hope, and for the courage to one day not fear cancer.

I ride for the countless members of my extended family and friends who have fought and are fighting this disease. I ride for those who may not have the support they deserve, those who feel hopeless, and those who have a story to tell. I also ride for the caretakers, family members, and friends of those who are affected by cancer and other long term illnesses. I ride for all those affected by COVID-19 and in the hope that one day quality healthcare will be fully guaranteed to all people.

I ride for my teammates and their loved ones. Their stories inspire me to no end and I’m so, so grateful and honored to be able to ride alongside them in the fight against cancer.

Lastly, I ride for you and your story. If there is anyone you would like me to ride for or anything you’d like to share with me, please feel free to reach out to me at (512) 736-9640 or ramyayedatore@gmail.com.

With love,
Ramya
