About: Hi there! I'm Saman, a senior Public Health major.
About me: I don't believe in horoscopes...but I have to tell you that I am a Leo, along with Barack Obama, Meghan Markle, and Harry Potter; the fact that I share star signs with them is also my greatest accomplishment. August is a great month!
I love exploring Austin's trails, my incredibly loving friends and family, and dessert. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this team!

Why I Ride

How can I describe what it feels like to love someone in a paragraph? More importantly, how can I describe what it feels like to lose someone in a paragraph? I can't, because there aren't enough words in our vocabulary that can encapsulate those feelings. So instead, I'm riding 4000 miles to Alaska in hopes of doing that love (and that loss) justice.
I ride for my dad-my best friend and the guiding light in my life. I've been blessed with the privilege of being such an amazing man's daughter. My dad made his way from a small town in India to a PhD in Biochemistry, an award-winning career, and a marriage, family, and many, many friends that radiated love.
My dad, Mohammad Asghar, lost his 3.5-year battle with lung cancer on February 2nd, 2019. Every step of the way, he defied his prognosis and refused to live life any way but fully. He found strength in his family, and we found strength in him. This ride is a testament to his courage, bravery, and the immense love in his life-both given and received.
I'm riding for you, Abba. See you in Alaska.
