Why I Ride

It goes without saying; the devastating nature of cancer is comparable to few other things in society. One of the luxuries we have is the freedom to make choices. We have the liberty to choose to travel, we choose to go to college, and we choose to let ourselves fall in love in order to change and grow as individuals. However, sometimes, as with cancer, the most life-changing experiences impact us without ever considering our say in the decision. With cancer, the choice over one’s health is made for him or her.

The choice is made for millions of people each year; I ride because not all cancer stories end in happy endings.

I ride for my family to thank them for all they have given me over the past 18 years.

I ride for my teammates and classmates, who have been incredible support thus far.

I ride to give support, hope, and encouragement to anyone who has or will be affected by this awful disease.

Lastly, I ride because I choose to make a difference.
