With the end of this fall semester, my team is now almost 12 months into this 18-month long program that prepares us to not only bike to Alaska to raise money in the fight against cancer, but also develop our leadership skills. This semester we have continued in our tremendous efforts to fundraise the most […]

As Texas 4000 riders, we get asked about our motives almost every day. “Alaska’s awfully far away, scientists are already working on cures for cancer, and you’re not going to be young forever. Why are you biking to Alaska this summer?” With only a semester between now and our departure date, it seems more important […]

As the semester wraps up I realize I have so many updates & have communicated none of them via this outlet! So I wanted to write a little about what I’ve been up to this past whole calendar year in Texas4000. Last spring, I had the privilege of studying abroad in Paris, France at HEC […]

This past weekend my team drove out to Fayetteville, TX to spend the weekend getting to know our bikes a bit better. 70+ miles on a bike will really do something to your sit bones, and that’s all I’ll say…. It was a challenging weekend to say the least, from 6am wake ups after sleeping […]

“The mountains are calling and I must go.” This quote by John Muir has resonated with me for a while now and has really grown to mean a lot more in the past few years. I grew up going to the U.S. Rocky Mountains for winter vacation with my family, but the true beauty of […]

Well today was one of those hard days. Just being able to stand up in front of 80 people, telling them my story and letting them hear my pain, is a huge change for me. If you knew me in high school, weakness was not something I liked to show. I hated emotions and being vulnerable. Telling my story today was like picking a scab and exposing the raw skin: ugly, unpolished, and a bit embarrassing.

Day 7: 7 June 2019 Beaumont, TX —> Lake Charles, LA [SAG] Today was our first border crossing and my first day on SAG for the summer ride. SAG is a whole other experience than cycling. I can say very honestly that I was stressed about doing the best I could for my teammates. Debleena […]

Hey guys!   So, I made a lot of ambitious promises about updating on the progress of T4K throughout the summer, and I kept about 0 of them. I’m really sorry for my radio silence during the summer, and after, and there were definitely times during the summer where I tried to sit down and […]

Why does it seem like a dream? The green trees lacing the mountain side; the clear turquoise channel flowing alongside the road; the mountains soaring upwards reaching to the sky. Was it a dream? It seems like a dream. Less than 48 hours before this was written, I was on the bike. At the time […]

This is really happening. I applied to be part of Texas 4000 in September/October 2017, was accepted in November 2017, and in January 2018 the preparation for this summer ride began. It’s been a 20-month journey to get here today. Day 0: 31 May 2019 Austin, TX —> Lampasas, TX [73 miles] “If you want […]
