Student Cyclists Prepare for 4700 mile Trip to Alaska

AUSTIN, Texas– Dozens of University of Texas students are getting ready to set out on an epic bike ride – all the way to Alaska.

The annual Livestrong Texas 4000 starts Saturday, as 42 students ride the first leg of a nearly 4,700 mile trip. After 70 days on the road the cyclists will end up in Anchorage,Alaska.

The event raises money and awareness for the fight against cancer.

Riders will gather Friday morning on the UT campus for a kick-off event before setting out onSaturday.
