About: I never actually applied to any other colleges other than UT, I just told my parents I did. I had only been to UT once, as part of the debate club in highschool, and I loved it. I couldn't imagine actually applying to other universities. After my first year, I found myself ingrained in the UT atmosphere. I joined Texas Ballroom, and compete with them all over Texas. I love sports, and played with the Rugby Club and intramural sports. I also longboard with UT Downhill!

As for non university hobbies, I really enjoy music and audio equipment. In fact, I spend most nights listening to music and wondering how much I am going to regret staying up so late when I wake up in the morning. I even have several instruments in my room that I have no idea how to play.

Why I Ride

I ride for my grandmother, Bernice, and cousin, Trey. At a young age, I lost my grandmother to colon cancer. Colon cancer affects more people than it should, and that is why I personally resonate with Texas 4000's pillar of Knowledge. Proper cancer screenings and understanding the signs of possible colon cancer can prevent colon cancer related deaths. Many Americans don't know when their first colonoscopy should be performed, nor do they know that if colon cancer has afflicted family members, they should get it earlier than usual.

My cousin Trey had a massive brain aneurism in 2013 at the age of 22. While healthy, he was driven in a way that I never was. I ride for him to remember how he strove and worked for the things he wanted in life. He was accepted into dental school days before his aneurism, and I would like to be as accomplished as he was to be.

I ride for my grandmother to fight cancer in her name for Texas 4000, and I ride for my cousin to complete the journey that is Texas 4000.
