About: My name is Nicholas Samendinger and I am a senior majoring in history at UT Austin with plans to obtain my masters degree in architecture. I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio but have lived in the Austin area since moving to Texas at a young age. For as long as I can remember I have known that what I want most in life is to seek out and gain as many diverse experiences as possible. As a college student, I have pursued my academics with dedication, and additionally, I have explored my love for design, architecture, music and traveling through many outlets. All of these experiences over the years have taught me not only how to embrace a challenge and hard work and the importance of collaboration, but also how to live life to the fullest. Every day I learn something new about myself as I pursue my interests and goals. It is my desire to continue pursuing a variety of life experiences with vigor.
Why I Ride
I ride for everyone that has been and will be affected by cancer. I have been fortunate to not have been personally touched by cancer. However, I have had friends who have been affected and I have seen the devastation it causes and hopeless feelings it can create. Although my experience with cancer has not been direct, I understand the widespread nature of the disease and the importance of working hard, not only to find a cure, but to provide resources to support patients and their families who are affected by the disease. Unfortunately, at some point in my life, I will likely be directly impacted by cancer in some manner. I cherish the opportunity to make a contribution now with the hope that I can somehow lessen the likelihood that I, along with anyone else, will ever have to experience cancer without knowing that there is a cure. I believe riding with Texas 4000 offers a unique and important opportunity to spread knowledge about cancer, provide hope for those directly affected, and to help collect charitable funds with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. I am proud and honored to be a part of this program and effort, and look forward to investing myself in this incredible cause.
