Why I Ride
I ride for my friends with special needs at Capernaum who have taught me more than I could ever teach, and have truly shown me what it's like to love deeply and unconditionally.
I ride for my stepmother, Jamie. The strongest woman I've ever known and my greatest supporter throughout my whole life, she is a cancer survivor herself, and is exemplary of Texas 4000's tenets: Hope, Knowledge and Charity.
I ride for my grandmother, who is currently battling breast cancer. No one has taught me more about how to care for others. She is unfathomably strong for her family, and it is my honor to take up her cause.
Finally I ride for my Dad. He passed away on June 21st, 2014. I owe everything I am to him. Never has there been a more compassionate man, willing to go to the ends of the earth for anyone placed in his path.
Just as we rode together when I was a kid, so too will he be riding with me in spirit; every single mile from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska.
