About:
My name is Bevin, and I am a very thankful person. I came into this world on November 26, which happened to be the day Thanksgiving fell on that year. Maybe I’m a little biased because my birthday is always around that time, but Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. It is a time for us to set aside our busy lives and do what I love most: spend time with family. I come from what I like to call a modern day Brady Bunch. I have four older stepbrothers, two younger stepsisters, a little brother, and a little sister. Each and every one of them brings love, laughter and joy into my life every day. I have an amazing set of parents who have taught me to always seek adventure, knowledge, and happiness.
As for the rest of my fun facts, I’m a Plan II major with a concentration in actuarial science. I’m a Delta Gamma and have loved serving on the Recruitment Team for the past two years. I am very adventurous and will try everything at least once. I have gone skydiving, SCUBA diving, flyboarding, hot air ballooning, and zip-lining, among other crazy things. I love hanging out with friends, reading, traveling, music, and pugs. I’m always up to do something fun, and I live every day to its fullest potential.
Why I Ride
“Life is not about the destination. It’s about the journey.” I love this quote because I believe life is about making memories with the ones you love. Of course the destination and the goal is important, but it’s the way you get there that matters. I have seen loved ones around me suffer from the effects of cancer. My four older stepbrothers lost their mother when they were all under the age of 7. I hate the fact cancer stole an amazing part of their childhood. They will never kiss their mom good night or experience her homemade cupcakes on their birthdays and that absolutely breaks my heart. I hope that one day no child will ever have to go through what my brothers experienced. I want to make a difference in this world and know that I have done my part in the fight against cancer. I want every person to experience life’s journey with a healthy mother by his or her side.
I ride for my cousin who suffered from breast cancer in her 30s. Thankfully, she is in full remission and living every day with her loving family. Her remarkable bravery and positive attitude serves as an inspiration to everyone battling cancer.
