About:
Hi! I'm Ashley! I was born in Flower Mound, Texas and have lived there for my whole life until coming to Austin for school. I love everything about both towns and am so glad that I can call both of them my home. I'm majoring in Biology and I hope to be a dentist when I grow up.
I love cats, running, hiking, camping, photography, and baking and eating cookies and every other dessert that I can think of! I also love hanging out with friends and just laughing and having fun. A good pun can make me laugh any day - the more lame it is, the better! Lastly, I love enjoying the simple things in life such as looking up at the clouds or stars, walking outside, or riding a bike.
Why I Ride
I ride for Phyllis Goodenough and Robert Lindley. My Grandmother Goodenough, or Grandmother Goody as we call her, is a wonderful person and a huge inspiration. She - just like me - loves cats and baking and she always makes us delicious homemade rhubarb pies when we come to visit. When she was only 42, she was diagnosed with breast cancer but she fought back and has been cancer free for 38 years. Robert Lindley, also known as Bad Bob, was my dad's dad. He died of lymphoma when my dad was only 20. I wasn't born yet and so I never got to meet him, but from stories I've heard he was really funny just like my dad.
Cancer has affected us all in some way, whether directly or through the stories of others. It can be found all across the globe, bringing fear and sadness to millions of cancer patients and their families, friends, and countless others. To beat cancer we have to stand together. I know that one day we will find the cure. I ride so that this day will come sooner. I ride for the day when cancer will no longer steal away our families and our friends. I ride for those battling cancer each day and their family and friends, and for those who have lost loved ones to this horrible disease, and for the doctors and researchers doing everything they can to help save lives each day. I ride for my teammates and I ride for HOPE, KNOWLEDGE, and CHARITY.
