About:

I live by the phrase "Carpe Diem." I try to enjoy the small things in life, especially my friendships and relationships with others. Life is about experiences and bonds. Rather than focusing on what's popular, I follow what's best for me and my passions in life.

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela, but I'm too much of a Texan now to say I'm only Latin American. I grew up in College Station, Texas, and I'm very grateful for it. The Bryan-College Station community is an incredible one, and I'm blessed to call it my hometown.

I enjoy traveling, watching films and college sports, live concerts, the outdoors, and reading a book that makes you think. I'm also fluent in Spanish and Italian.

Being a student at the University of Texas at Austin has truly been an incredible opportunity. I'm majoring in advertising and minoring in Italian and business. When I'm not riding my bike or having a good time with my Texas 4000 team, I'm either networking with the Texas Advertising Group (TAG), working at Hotze Runkle PLLC in downtown, or volunteering with various ministries at the University Catholic Center.

Why I Ride

As a Catholic Christian, I've grown to value the strength found in community, and the power of unity. Now that I'm part of Texas 4000, I hope to bring a community of support to those who don't have one, and to uplift and supercharge even more those who do. Battling cancer shouldn't ever be fought alone.

I'm riding to Alaska in the summer of 2012 for my family and friends who battled or are currently battling cancer. I also ride for those who don't have someone by their side, holding their hand to get through this painful obstacle.

I ride in memory of my teammate and friend Ruel Bobet, my grandfather Marcelo Laprea, my aunt Sonia Angulo, my aunt Isabel Laprea, my uncle Mario Farias, Patricia Martin, and Helen and Robert Deuterman.

I ride in honor of my mom Mariela Laprea, my aunt Rosa Laprea, Bruce Brunson, and Kelli Bevans.
