About:
Born and raised all 18 years of my life in Houston, TX, moving only 150 miles away to Austin, TX to unravel a new chapter of my life was a bit overwhelming. I felt that I was too attached to my life at home, but the moment I said farewell to parents, I was told by my mom, “You’re leaving us to make something out of yourself and shape the future. Don’t be scared, be thrilled.”
I am currently an unseasoned freshman at the University of Texas, hook ”˜em! Studying business and pre-med, I plan to one day pursue a career in medicine and spread my knowledge across the world. I am crazy about sports and played nearly every one growing up. Eating a lot is an understatement to me. I love my dog and sister and talk to both of them often. I am very sociable but I typically isolate myself from reality while in the bathroom or sleeping.
Starring outside a window makes me realize I am merely a blade of grass on the vast football field titled the world which I someday wish to travel about. I am often indecisive when it comes to making miniscule decisions but I know for a fact that I am thrilled to hopefully ride over 4,500 miles to Alaska to make something out of myself, as my mom told me, and shape the future.
Why I Ride
Cancer, by definition, is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the body. Until the word uncontrolled is removed from this definition, we are all diagnosed. As of today, there are no preventions, there are no cures, but there are simply humans like me eager to put in 110% to make just the slightest difference. When I came across Texas 4000, my eyes were opened to the dangers of life. What makes it even more dangerous, are the people not doing anything about them. The first step to solving a problem is realizing what the problem is. Although the charity aspect of Texas 4000 is critical, it is vital to share hope and knowledge to those not even familiar to the evils of cancer. Let’s open the eyes of Northern America. If we lead the change, the world will follow.
