About:
I am 19 years old and was born in San Antonio, TX where I spent my whole life in the same house. I dont notice humidity anymore and am surprised when we actually have a cold winter every once in a while. I went to a small high school there with only 73 people in my class. This is now my second year at UT and I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Im proud to be a longhorn; Ive pretty much been one all my life. After, I graduate from UT I plan on designing rollercoasters for a living. I like to play classical guitar, and I am really looking forward to this trip. It is going to be a once in a life time opportunity!
Why I Ride
I believe that everything happens for a reason; every reward and obstacle in life. So while everyone experiences hurdles in life, its a shame that some have to go through the painful one of cancer. As the second leading cause of death in America, I think its important to work as hard as we can in the effort to help cure and prevent cancer. In my trip to Alaska I only hope that I can help bring hope to those who are struggling with this obstacle in life.
As soon as I saw the flyer for this I knew it was for me. I was inspired by my aunt who turned to cycling after surviving breast cancer and hope to honor her and everyone else in my family who has had cancer.
