About: I was born in Shanghai, China. Since then, I've moved around a bit, from Vancouver, British Columbia; to Plano, Texas; and finally to the great city of Austin. You could say I'm a pretty eclectic person. Here at the University of Texas I am a second year electrical engineering major. I also play the trumpet in the Longhorn Band. In my free time, I enjoy a lot of outdoor activities, especially cycling. No really it's true--this past summer I really got into the sport. I even 'pimped my ride' with some clipless pedals...only on my first ride, I definitely hit the asphalt. No worries, I learned a little bit about life that day. Sometimes it hurts, you just have to remember…always unclip before stopping. I also love Wheat Thins, have never been to Taco Bell, and have an unnatural obsession with the computer game Minesweeper.

Why I Ride

Cancer can strike anyone at any given time. It is not a problem that only a certain group of people have to deal with. It is one of the few global problems where everyone is affected. And because of this, the only way to beat cancer is to recruit the help of as many people as possible. After reading through some of the journals of the riders who rode to Alaska this past summer, I was amazed by the dedication and perseverance of a group of college students riding for those affected by the disease. It was then that I realized this ride would be the perfect way for me to help battle cancer and make a difference in someone's life. I've been lucky enough not to have lost any close friends or family to cancer. And I hope that by joining Texas 4000 I will help keep it that way. If I can better the life of just one person during this ride, then I think the entire journey will be worth it.
