About:
I was born in 1985 in south Austin where I stomped around until the age of 18 years old. After graduating from Crockett High School, class of 2003, I went directly to the Austin Community College where I took basic education requirements aimed at entering the University of Texas. After a couple of years at ACC and a couple of study abroad sessions in Latin America, I ended up entering the University of St. Edward’s where I obtained a degree in Finance and rowed competitively for three semesters.
Current I enjoy working at my mother’s restaurant on 43rd and Duval. I also take pleasure in… cycling, rowing, being frugal, investing in total market indexes, live music, eating food, languages, the beach, reading, talking to people, traveling, eating food, commuting by bike, simple machines, logging more miles on my bike than in my car, growing out my hair, personal finance, fixed gear bikes, spending time with my family, spending time with my friends, the outdoors, and eating food.
Why I Ride
I was mostly influenced by my mother’s side of the family. My mother is one of nine children. Her side of the family is pretty large. I have seen a few of my relatives past away. A lot of these deaths have been because of cancer or complication from cancer. This is how I have been affected by cancer. I don’t believe I am unique in that cancer has affected some of my loved ones. I think that every single person on this planet has been affected or will be affected by cancer someday. This not a problem that only some people will have and other’s not. Cancer does not discriminate. Unless we do something about it, it will continue to be a part of our lives.
