About: I am currently an Architectural Engineering Senior at the University of Texas in Austin. I was born in Wichita Falls, TX, on August 24, 1981, but grew up in La Grange, TX, which is 60 miles from Austin. I love hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors.

Why I Ride

My Grandpa Neuman survived Prostate Cancer and I have recently lost an uncle, Alton "Brutz" Tschirhart, to bone marrow cancer. Early symptoms of bone marrow cancer are so sporadic and subtle that most people don't see a doctor until after it has spread to the rest of the body, as was the case with my uncle. It is the mission of Texas 4000 to try and prevent cases like this from arising by sharing hope and knowledge. Maybe if my uncle had received some knowledge about cancer detection and prevention from a group like Texas 4000 then he would still be with us today. He was one of the biggest donors to the American Cancer Society in his hometown of Castroville, Texas. His donations might not have been able to help fight his cancer, but they definitely helped someone else fight and overcome theirs. This spring and summer I will be donating my time, effort, and fundraising with the knowledge that my actions may not only save the lives of my loved ones, but my own life as well.
