About: Well howdy there y’all. My name is Drew Herbort but you can go ahead and call me whatever you’d like. I’ve heard it all, from D’Money and D’Dawg, to Drooby Dooby Doo and Drew Barrymore. There is no name I haven’t heard. In fact, I encourage you to try and come up with one and then let me know! I am from the small little German town known as Fredericksburg, Texas. If you’ve ever been to Enchanted Rock or perhaps eaten those wonderful Fredericksburg peaches, you have been right up my alley! I’ve got a little sister Alyssa who I love to death (and am slightly “big brother” protective over) and I’ve got two incredibly loving and supportive parents, Bryan and Lori.
I’d like to think I am rather musically talented. I was in the High School band and I can play guitar, trumpet, piano and I’ve been told I am pretty good at drumming on the steering wheel while driving, but that’s neither here nor there. I also played basketball and tennis, and ran cross-country as well. I have a huge passion for running which has led me to run quite a few 5k’s, 10k’s, half-marathons and marathons throughout Texas. I have run a Tough Mudder as well. Here at the University of Texas I am studying education and trying to be as much of a leader as I possibly can. I am a Resident Assistant at the Dobie Center, a Camp Texas counselor, as well as a Texas Wrangler.
Finally, if you REALLY want to know me, you need to know that I love Harry Potter and think Albus Dumbledore is honestly one of the most insightful characters ever. The way I live my life,
“Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
No matter how bad it seems at the time, find the positive in the situation and suddenly.. The weight of the world seems a little lighter.

Why I Ride

No one enjoys cancer. I guarantee no one enjoys cancer twice either. I ride for Barbara Meyer, my grandmother, who is currently battling cancer not for the first time, but for the second time. This woman is easily one of the most inspirational people I have ever met in my entire life. Not only because she is fighting cancer yet again, but also because she is quite honestly the most loving and caring woman I have ever known. I feel as though everyone’s grandmother is sweet and loving and it’s just the “grandmother stereotype”, but this one is for real. I have never met a woman who can be going through the emotional turmoil of cancer AGAIN, yet still be so incredibly composed and positive about life.
I am riding for the woman who always stays out on the front porch waving as we pull out of her driveway, I am riding for the woman who can make you happy with life because she is so happy with life, and I am riding for the woman who everyone knows and loves.
Omie Barbara, I am riding for you.

I ride for those who are currently in the fight, and for those who have lost the fight.
I ride to spread the hope, and I ride to spread the courage.
I ride for those I know, and for those who I have not met yet.
I ride for a cancer free future.
