About:

My name is Neha Ali and I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Family, faith, education and philanthropy are the four aspects of my life that easily define me. My family is indescribable; we're chaotic, loud and opinionated, but come together at the end of the day because of the undying love present for each other. Both of my parents have always been here for me, teaching me how to be a well-rounded individual with love for the world and curiosity of the unknown. Both of my brothers, one older and one younger, have served an inspirations, showing me how to work hard no matter how many times you are pushed away and to just enjoy life while I can.

Faith has also played a monumental role in shaping me as a person. Being a Muslim is not just something I say I am, I live for my faith. Every decision and turn in life is decided upon through belief of God and guidance from my religious community. As a Muslim, I have learned to face hardships, but still remain peaceful and kind to the world. Additionally, my family and faith have taught me that there is nothing more rewarding than being an educated individual; someone who is willing to open her mind to so much more than she can see. I enjoy my classes at UT, no matter how difficult they may get and look forward to every opportunity and experience, good or bad.

Lastly, philanthropy has been my biggest passion from a young age. No, I don't have millions of dollars to give away, but I have undying love and care for humanity. I want to devote myself to this beautiful world we live in and the many unique people who inhabit it. Being blessed with so much has made me even more passionate about giving back to world. Texas 4000 caught my eye instantly because of the opportunity present to make a lasting impact. Why not use your life as a tool to help others?

Why I Ride

I have never lost a close family member or friend to cancer, but that doesn't mean I haven't been just as affected. My want to be in the medical field roots from the helplessness of people who have so much potential, but can't display it due to disease. To me, cancer is a personal battle because I am a human who shares this world with others who face the challenges this disease presents. It can creep up at anytime and rock your world in an unforgettable way. As a healthy individual, it's my responsibility to live for those people, to live for their cause and do all I can to be a medical innovator.

So who do I ride for? I ride for the individuals who are so unique and amazing, but won't be able to show the world. I ride for the children who spend weeks in the hospital and still have smiles on their faces. I ride for the mother who is forced to leave her family. I ride for humanity.
