Founded in 2004, Texas 4000 is a way to continue the fight against cancer by raising funds for cancer research; sharing hope, knowledge and charity through the continent; and their creation of the longest charity bicycle ride in the world from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska. The cyclists start the journey together from Austin, but split up into three routes on Day 2 of their 70-day ride.

The Sierra Route made a stop in Sweetwater on Tuesday afternoon off Interstate 20 near Alabama Avenue on their way to Snyder. The three routes will converge in Canada to ride the last nine days together to Anchorage and will conclude the ride on August 8.
