Cancer Fundraiser Cycles into PG

Prince George, B.C. – Two dozen cyclists wheeled into Prince George this week hoping to raise funds for cancer research.

The Sierra Route of the Texas 4000 (the Rockies Route was here last week) biked up from Quesnel Monday and will wrap up their trip in Anchorage, Alaska August 8th.

Assistant Ride Director Ben Keeler says the group, which left Austin,Texas, over two months ago – starting training for the 70 day trip back in January.

A recent Economics graduate from the University of Texas, Keeler says the death of two of his grandparents inspired him to participate and says they’ve received a positive reaction everywhere they have gone because it’s a “relatable cause.”

And Keeler says that’s translated very well into their fundraising efforts already having surpassed their goal of $500,000 by $80,000.

He’s confident they will reach their new target of $600,000 before they finish.
