About: Hello everyone, my name is Marc CastaƱeda and I am a fourth year Health promotion major at The University of Texas at Austin with a specialization in Health Fitness Instruction. I grew up on the Westside of San Antonio, TX and I am the youngest of 3! I am very much the loud one out of all my family and I always try to be as positive as I possibly can be.

Some of my favorite things to do are trying new foods, dancing, and hanging out with my friends and doing spontaneous things! I try and take everything day by day and really just enjoy what this life has to offer. I love my family to the moon and back and my nephews mean the world to me!

Also, I am a huge fan of music, movies, and tv! I love talking to people about all the shows that I have watched as well as movies. One of my favorite movies till this day has to be Matilda hands down! That little girl and her positive attitude gave way to the person that I am now! Similar to TV and film, music is my life! As a dancer music helps inspire and bring forth all the emotions you bottle up! Some of my favorite artist are James Bay, Vance Joy, Years & Years, and Halsey to name a few!

Why I Ride

I ride for many people that I have had the pleasure to meet, but the main person I ride for is my Abuela Flora! In 2014 my grandmother was diagnosed with Lymphoma. She got treatment a while back and is now in remission! I am thankful everyday that she is alive and well, and I hope that she will be around for many more years to come! In addition to my Grandmother Flora, I also ride for my uncle Richard Salas. He passed away in 2013 and I continue to ride for him so nobody has to suffer through such a horrible disease ever again.

There are many other people that I will ride for this summer. My best friend Esther has a grandmother who had stomach cancer but is now in remission. I ride for Diem Brown, a reality TV personality who passed away last year from ovarian cancer. She really inspired me to make a change in this world. While I didn't personally know her she had an impact on my life and I am thankful for that every day.

I ride for many other people. My goal is to continue to ride for the people I will meet during this journey and all those affected by cancer. Thank you!
