Why I Ride

I ride with Texas 4000 for my grandfather and for the bravery that he showed during his fight with lung cancer. I ride for the strength and faith I witnessed in my parents and family members as they continually stood by his side throughout his battle. And I ride for all the cancer patients I had the honor of meeting while volunteering at the Texas Medical Center.

My grandfather, along with all of these patients, are just a few stories among millions that have been tainted by cancer. However, despite their circumstances, these people are some of the most fearless and positive people I’ve known. The strength they have in their fight against cancer is the same strength that I hope to carry with me to Alaska. I choose to ride, because they didn’t have the choice.

Ultimately, I hope to help prevent cancer by spreading awareness and educating others on ways to prevent this disease. I hope to provide hope, peace, and positivity to others that I meet on this journey. Lastly, I hope to help support cancer research so that one day cancer can be a thing of the past.

I ride not only for my own grandfather and friends, but also for all the grandfathers, relatives, and friends out there that have been affected by cancer.To me, Texas 4000 is the ride of a lifetime. For others, Texas 4000 will be the ride that changes lives
