Riding for a Reason
Student cyclists participating in a summer program with Texas 4000, an organization that engages communities to fight cancer, raise their hands during a presentation with Cindy Malray of the American Cancer Society at Lourdes hospital Saturday. Paducah served as a host town for the group of about 24 students, who are completing the cycling event’s Ozarks route. They represent one of three groups that is cycling from Austin, Texas, to Anchorage, Alaska, in order to raise awareness and funds to fight cancer. The cyclists visited Lourdes hospital to talk about their reasons for riding and hear from locals about their involvement in advocacy for cancer patients.
