About:
Hi & welcome to my page! My name is Emily and I am a third year marketing major. I am a true Austinite having been born & raised here. I have two amazing built in friends & younger sisters, Katherine and Elizabeth and two wonderful and caring parents, Mark and Christie.
I love moments in life when you get to deviate from the more traditional trajectory. After high school I took a gap year and worked at a faith based family camp in Granby, Colorado, and last spring I studied abroad at HEC Paris. I am so excited to add Texas4000 to my list of experiences and for all the people and stories I will become intertwine in on my way to Alaska. In addition to Texas4000, at UT I am a member of Texas Lonestars, APO, and Young Life. Hiking, coffee shops, and talking with strangers are a few things that bring me joy.
Why I Ride
I ride for my aunt Alix, my neighbor Auggie, my high school teacher Mrs. Vohl, and so many other names and stories that have suffered due to cancer. I have seen the devastating and heart wrenching effects cancer can have, and I ride so that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for all the lives cancer has touched. 1 Timothy 6 talks about fighting the good fight, a fight I saw in Alix, Auggie, and Mrs. Vohl. Through the Texas 4000, I hope to play my part in fighting the good fight by spreading hope, knowledge, and charity across my brothers and sisters across the United States and Canada.
