About: I am a senior at UT Austin studying Neuroscience with a minor in Italian. Medical school is the current plan for the future, and I hope to one day be involved in cancer research and translating discoveries into better more effective treatments. I am beyond excited to ride this summer, and to continue the fight against cancer long after my ride.
Why I Ride
Cancer has affected my family in many ways. Pain, fear, anguish are the emotions and feelings I have felt because of it.
My mother was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago. I will never forget the intense struggle it was seeing her go through treatment. During her treatment, I was often the one driving her to the clinic where I waited hours for her to get radiation to fight the disease. I remember how weak and tired she would look once she finished - the drives home would be ones filled with pain and fear of losing my mom. I am lucky to say that she was able to beat her cancer and that I can continue to have her in my life, but I know that many others cannot say the same. Cancer has left a void in the lives of
people everywhere, stealing away loved ones.
I ride because no one deserves to experience the pain and sorrow of losing their loved ones.
