Now Accepting Applications for the Summer 2017 Internship Program
We are currently looking for passionate individuals with eagerness to learn about and help an amazing cause. These nine internship opportunities will directly support the Texas 4000 fundraising and special events programs, activities and projects, as well as provide administrative support to all areas within the organization as needed.
5-10 hours/week minimum desired. Internships will span from June 5th – August 7th, 2017 (exact dates flexible). To apply, please send your resume, cover letter stating which position(s) you’d like to be considered for, and availability to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Communication and Public Relations (3 positions – 1 per route):
The Communication and PR intern will communicate with news and radio contacts, as well as monitor the distribution of press packets for all three of the routes of our summer ride. It is imperative that this intern has the ability to multi-task and balance a heavy workload, as well as enjoy speaking on the phone.
The IT Database intern will assist with the maintenance of our database, Raiser’s Edge. You will help with donor entry and general up-keep of the database, including but not limited to, merging contacts, entering individuals, and pulling reports. Previous database entry experience is not required but encouraged. We will provide all necessary training to any individual.
Media & Public/Host Relations
The Media, Public and Host Relations intern will communicate with hosts along the route, as well as monitor the documentation of the ride by organizing footage received by all three routes. It is imperative that this intern has the ability to multi-task and balance a heavy workload along with having an eye for video and photography and attention to detail.
Organizational & Program Support
The support intern will assist the Program Manager and Program Coordinator with projects related to the Texas 4000 leadership development program, the alumni network, and program evaluation. Additionally, you will assist the Office Manager in the execution of any daily tasks at hand around the office including, but not limited to, processing outgoing mail, filing documents, thanking donors and managing relationships with our sponsors. This would for someone looking for an entry-level position to gain experience in the non-profit world. Attention to detail, innovative thinking, and the ability to think critically are necessary to success for this position.
This position will work closely with our Alumni & Special Events Coordinator to put structures in place to keep our alumni involved in the organization and better help them connect with each other. Tasks include data management in our Blackbaud system, interviewing Alumni, writing blog posts, maintaining a positive relationship between Texas 4000 and Alumni. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and an outgoing personality are highly recommended as this position can involve anything from event planning to database management.
Development & Outreach
This position will be responsible for working with our database of donors, which tracks all incoming donations and organizing them into donor levels for our records. Tasks include data management in our Blackbaud system and maintaining positive relationships with Texas 4000 donors and sponsors. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and an outgoing personality are highly recommended as this position can involve everything from directly speaking with donors to database management.
The Grants intern will work closely with the Office Manager as well as the Executive Director to research potential grants, write letters of interest and grant proposals, and manage the process of applying to granting organizations. Prior experience with grant writing desired, but not required. Applicants should have strong writing skills, background or interest in the nonprofit sector, and the agency to lead and complete projects independently. Applicants for this position should submit a writing sample in addition to their other materials.
