Biography

I was born in Los Angeles, but I’ve been living in Houston since I was little. I’m a junior majoring in psychology and I absolutely love it! Outside of Texas 4000 I am a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. I really love people and I enjoy spending most of my time around my family and friends.

Personal Statement

I ride for my dad, Eli Milbauer.

I don’t think that I know of a single person that has not been affected in some way by cancer. When I was 10 years old my dad was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, and I was too young to understand the gravity of his disease. For the next year my family tried almost every single treatment the doctors could come up with to try and stop his cancer from spreading, but treatment methods for later stages of melanoma were very limited at the time. I remember the last night he ever left our house to go to the hospital, and I remember thinking that the doctors would fix whatever was wrong and that he would be home again soon, but unfortunately that was not the case. My dad died when I was only 11, but his spirit definitely lives on through his entire family and through what I'm doing as a member of Texas 4000.

My ride year, 2011 will mark the 10 year anniversary of my dad's death, and I feel so honored to be able to spend this year as a rider for T4K. Although I ride for my dad, I also ride for the hope that no other kids have to lose a parent to cancer.

I believe that cancer has a cure and that someday we will find it, but it will take the effort and concern of our communities to reach this goal. Texas 4000 allows me to be a proactive member of the community in finding a cure for cancer and I hope that my hard work will inspire others to strive for a cure as well.
