I was born in Fort Worth, Texas. I love eating BBQ, listening to country music, driving in my truck, and wearing my cowboy hat. No, I don’t really own a cowboy hat, but I think you get the picture that I am proud to be a native Texan. I grew up in Arlington, and I have one younger sister. I played every sport imaginable in high school, and I still enjoy getting out on the intramural fields from time to time. Any kind of activity that gets me outside is alright with me. I am fairly easy going guy, and I love trying new things. I am currently at The University of Texas at Austin pursuing a future career in medicine. I hope to someday be able to travel the world and give healthcare to those who cannot afford it. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my dog and seeing new movies. I currently work in a biology lab here at UT, and I love going to Longhorn football games in the fall. Having a chance to ride for such a good cause would be an honor, and I look forward to giving it my all.
Personal Statement
I think cancer is one of the scariest diseases of today. One in three people will contract cancer, and one in four will die from the disease. I have had family members and close friends who have been affected. The strangest thing about cancer is the people who suffer from it are often times the ones who fear the disease the least. They are able see the positive in the situation, and stand strong for those loved ones around them. I admire the strength it takes to look cancer in the face and know that it won’t stop you from living your life. I want to ride for those who have fought the fight, and those who are still fighting. If I can be an inspiration to just one person, it will be worth the ride. Lance Armstrong said, “If you worried about falling off the bike, you’d never get on.”
