Biography
I was born in Austin but raised in Waco, Texas. I am majoring in finance at Texas State but took a year off to come to ACC and experience Austin in a whole new light while I finish my basics. Just in the past few months that I have lived here, I have grown so much as an individual and I am constantly challenging myself to make a difference in this world because of the difference the world has made on me lately. I'm loving life and the incredible relationships I have built with some amazing people. I am extremely passionate about music, playing any sports, scuba diving, sky diving, and basically anything else that gives me a rush. I love traveling and experiencing new cultures and can't wait to scratch another country off my list or take the next road trip. I'm young and full of life and I'll jump on any opportunity to be a part of something great because every man dies but not every man truly lives and nothing is going to get in the way of me truly living.
Personal Statement
It can be very redundant and emotionally unsatisfying to simply throw a few dollars in jar labeled "charity" and walk away. I need to see results first hand that will have an impact on me and the people I strive to help. The Texas 4000 is an incredible and unique form of fighting cancer that leaves a lasting impression on everyone involved. My mom lost her mother to cancer when she was only thirteen and my grandmother was very fortunate and blessed to overcome breast cancer twice. In both cases I was not born or too young to feel like I had a chance to help, but this is my time to fight back for my family and millions of other families around the world. I love the feeling I get when I think of riding to Alaska and not being able to turn back or give up because in comparison both 4000 miles and cancer seem impossible to overcome. When my grandmother had cancer she could not just stop "riding", she had to see it all the way through and I won't stop riding or fighting for her until I have achieved the goals of the ride and everything else along the way. Robert Frost wrote, "Two roads diverged in a wood and I? I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." It takes a special person to take the road less traveled but I feel that this truly will make all the difference in my life and the lives of so many others for years to come.
