Biography
I grew up in the small town of Angleton, Texas. As a teenager, I excelled in academics and music. My dad is a scout leader and Eagle Scout, so I have always been involved in outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and cycling. Riding bikes has always been a part of my life and I was on the back of my dad's bike before I could even walk. Now I am a student of nursing at the University of Texas at Austin, hoping to gain skills and knowledge to help people as a career. My interests include traveling, especially with friends, cooking, walking my dog, and, of course, cycling.
Personal Statement
As a student of nursing, it is a given that one of my main goals in life is to do what I can to help others in need. The only way to cure or more successfully treat a complicated disease like cancer, is through the funding of research. The results of this research have such a great magnitude. Millions or more families can benefit, but what is really amazing is how truly thankful they are towards those who want to help. I would love to have the opportunity to bring two of my passions together, helping others and cycling, to do something so positive.
