Biography

Texas4000 is the best thing I've ever done.

I'm just a guy who likes things. I'm a sometime geek, luddite, artist, idiot savant, philanthropist, clown, idealist, author, amnesiac, endurance racer, student, teacher, artist, lover, and participant. I try not to be a consumer, observer, reactionary, rageaholic, obsessive-compulsive, liar, hater, or annoyance. I'm usually happy and busy and interested.

My personality doesn't fit well in my head, much less in this box, but here's a little of my history:

Spent the first 25 years of my life in school, culminating in 2 years when I actually enjoyed school and did great, and a bachelor of arts in computer science. Worked in IT and software engineering for the last 6 years of my school career, and still do. At age 24, realized that the life of a couch potato was not for me, and took up working out--first at the gym, then in martial arts (I am a black belt in tukong moosul), and finally in endurance racing. Triathlons are my favorite now, but I do the standard bike and run race circuit as well, and throw in some distance rollerblading for a change-up.

Personal Statement

I've yet to lose a friend to cancer. I'd like it to stay that way, and so I'm trying to do my part to make my dreams a reality.

I've had 3 friends and an aunt survive cancer. I've been inspired by the career of lance armstrong, and the stories of friends who've lost loved ones.

In addition to supporting research, I'd like to get the word out about cancer prevention, so that someone else out there won't have to suffer, or lose a loved one.
