Biography

I am a Biochem/Pre-Med freshman at UT from the Woodlands, just north of Houston and am so excited about college life and all it has to offer. If you were wondering, Iā??m Korean, but I'm also a Cajun at heart, born in good ole Lafayette, Louisiana. I have a passion for music and play the cello, piano, and handbells, but I also love Tae Kwon Do, swing/salsa dancing, and the outdoors. I am so excited about being a part of Texas 4000 and am enthusiastic about having the opportunity to make a positive difference. I am always up to meeting people, so please talk to me!

Personal Statement

January 3, 2006, my Uncle Lee lost his battle against cancer. Cancer amazes me in the way that is so intangible, yet it can even take down a heavy-weight Judo champion. In the true warrier spirit, my uncle did not go down without a fight. For five years he battled pharyngeal cancer, beating it, only to find later he had contracted brain cancer. Doctors gave him only two months to live, but through his strength and determination he managed to hold out for over a full year longer than expected. In the end, it was not the cancer, but a weak immune system due to the chemotherapy that finally overcame him. Losing my uncle, just as I had lost my 28-year-old aunt to Leukemia has convinced me that cancer is one war that is not going to win! I am more than ready to join the battle! I ride for those who were, are, and will be suffering.
