Biography
Hello to all that think we are absolutely crazy! The truth is we are, but in a respectable way. I am very fortunate to be accepted on this cycling team because the cause is worth riding 4,500 miles for and the team itself is one of a kind. I am a junior at Texas State majoring in horticulture business. I have always been an outdoorsman, which started back at my childhood playing in the fields and creeks in Oklahoma. Those times were the best, always coming home with muddy shoes and sticker burs in the socks. You know my mom loved it. I eventually took on bow hunting at the age of ten, and since then I have always enjoyed anything to do with nature. I quit smoking cigarettes on May 11, 2005, and this cycling adventure has been a great tool for leading me back into a healthy lifestyle. I owe it to the millions of people that have been affected by cancer and, of course to Texas 4000, so this ride will be a ride of a lifetime.
Let the good times roll.
Personal Statement
Wow, I canā??t believe what is going to happen this summer!!!! There is no way words can describe this trip, but Iā??ll give it a try. This ride will be an accomplishment like no other, one that will soar higher than any other achievement to this day and probably the future for me. The entire process of training, fundraising, planning, learning, meeting new people, visiting children at cancer treatment centers, endless amount of sore muscles, eating right, staying hydrated, and not sleeping on a good bed for seventy days will lead to a successfully intense journey across the continent all the way to Alaska. When we all reach Anchorage, we will have a bond stronger than gorilla glue, and we will be able to conquer any task that faces us in the future. We are riding for those that can not because it is these people that will keep us cranking the pedals for them. When times get really hard, we will have the unfortunate in the back of our minds, and they will keep us going.
