Biography

I was born April 10. 1986 in Webster, Texas. I suppose that makes me one of the youngest on the team, but that's fine with me. Born and raised Texan, home has been Houston, San Antonio and Austin. I love it, I just wish we could have four seasons like the rest of the country. I'm currently working on my B.S. degree in Architecture/Interior Design. And yes, all those horror stories you have heard about us living in studio and not sleeping are true- for the most part. But it is an amazing experience that I wouldn't trade for anything. My fellow classmates have become my extended family, and studio my home away from home. On the rare occasion that I have free time, you can generally find me outdoors, be it riding, running or just lazing around. My family and friends have made me who I am, and I am forever grateful.

Personal Statement

I am one of the minority. I have been fortunate enough that I have never been directly affected by cancer. But I also know that my luck is not guaranteed. The scariest part is that cancer does not discriminate; there is no assurance that you or I will not be diagnosed at some point in our lives. Because of this possibility we need to keep striving for new treatments and ultimately a cure. When I tell most people that I am biking to Alaska, they are often amazed and incredulous. They see it as a grueling adventure and there is usually a comment of ā??glad itā??s you and not meā?. But every day cancer victims fight much larger obstacles. Being a member of the Texas 4000 team, I feel I can really contribute in the fight. By crossing the country we will impact numerous lives and become further educated ourselves. Our mission and hope can be spread exponentially as we go through each town along the way.
