Biography

I was born in Hungary and most of my family still lives there, but I've lived in Texas for 15 years so I'm pretty much a Texan, and proud to be one. I'm an electrical engineering major and I hope to go to graduate school after I complete my undergrad degree in 2006. I've never done anything quite as crazy as the Texas4000, but I feel like it is a chance to change peoples' lives for the better, and the adventure of a lifetime- and that's all I really need to know. Incidentally, I drove from Austin to Seattle for an internship last summer, and let me tell you... it feels like a crazy long distance even when you are flying down the highways at 80 mph, and that doesn't even consider Canada. I have massive respect for all of the riders from the previous two years who have made it all the way to Anchorage, and I hope to live up to their legacy.

Personal Statement

My uncle was diagnosed with brain cancer a number of years ago, and he struggled with it for four years before it overcame him. Ultimately, he was diagnosed too late because the cancer was already too advanced. He lived in a small town in southern Hungary, and knowledge of cancer and the technology to treat it was not far enough advanced for any of his doctors to catch it early. I feel like he could have been saved if only cancer awareness was more deeply rooted all around the world, and if someone would have considered that his headaches might be due to cancer and would have forced him to go to a city to get it checked out. I cannot hope to describe the suffering that he went through, and the pain that it caused his wife, his kids, and his brother (my dad). I will gladly commit to raising $4000 and riding 4000 miles if I can prevent even a single person from going through what my uncle had to go through.
