About: As a child, when my father inquired about my future ambitions, I relayed to him my desire to be either a turtle or a piece of popcorn when I grew up. Recently, I have abandoned those dreams. The logistics of being a reptile--or edible for that matter--now seem significantly less appealing. But some things have stayed the same. I still want to happy and to view the world from interesting perspectives. Only now I hope to do this through a career in nursing. I hope to see the world, see its people, hear their ideas, and to help.

Why I Ride

A question I receive a considerable amount is, "do you know someone with cancer?" or "is it personal for you?"
It is a reasonable thing to wonder but I always find it difficult to respond. I have never been a care-giver or watched someone I love undergo chemotherapy. But a simple "no" will not suffice.
I ride because I do not want to wait until cancer touches my sister or best friend or father before I take action. I ride because when something is wrong and I serve as a witness, I believe in working to combat it. And I ride because when I hear the hurt in my teammates as a result of their encounters with cancer I cannot help but to take it personally. And to want to make it stop.
