About:

I was born and raised in the lovely city of Austin, TX and I have obviously refused to leave it. Austin is my home and has introduced me to my current passions in life. My family has always supported me in these passions and aspirations. I have a strong-willed mother and an adventurous father, two hilarious younger sisters, a very athletic younger brother, a flight saavy older brother, a pig, a cat, and a dog named Poopie. My family is very important to me and they provide much of the encouragement, entertainment, and humour in my life. Through their love, support, and burnt orange blood, I am now a Junior English UTeach major with a Dance minor at UT.

If I’m not dancing, then I am on some sort of adventure. These adventures can range from spontaneous trips around Texas to jumping in as many Central Texas bodies of water as I can in 24 hours. I enjoy being on/in any type of water, which spurned from my dad’s love of fishing and outdoors. Exploring Austin’s hiking trails and spending time on its lakes are activities that make me fall in love with my city even more. I am very active and enjoy fitness, and just completed my first triathlon. Although Austin is my home, travelling and experiencing new places is a passion of mine. I love seeing all that the world has to offer me and the myriad of different cultures, and foods, there are to experience.

My home is in Austin, but my heart is in Nicaragua and my other mission homes. I have a love for missions, specifically to my church’s main missional community in Managua. Seeing the enduring love and relentless joy radiating from these poverty-stricken people makes me appreciate life so much more.

I am loved by the One True King and see my mission field to share Christ's story as wherever my feet lay. I strive to live by J.O.Y.- Jesus. Others. You. and take each day as a joyous gift. “Carpe diem,” is also another notorious phrase that I attempt to weave into my daily life. I try to take every opportunity that the Lord puts in my path- even if that path is from Austin to Anchorage.

Why I Ride

When I reflect on the loved ones close to me that have/had cancer, it makes me want to bike to the moon and back if it could help eliminate the illness from continuing. One of my very close friends, Hunter Bradley, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when she was 17 as a senior in high school. To see that Hunter still had a smile on her face and was relentlessly positive during the tedious treatment process made me realize that “it’s all about perspective.”

I tediously worry about the most trivial things in my life while there are those around me worrying about their next treatment to potentially save their lives. To give people like Hunter hope and a chance for a cure is something that should not be taken for granted. These people have stories that can change other people’s lives, and they certainly have greatly affected mine. P.S. As of only a short while ago, there have been no signs of cancerous cells in Hunter.
