About:

Hi y'all! My name is Rebecca Hoffman. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas by two amazing parents and my awesome cats. I am a senior, majoring in public relations and pursuing the Business Foundations Certificate. I have had major internships that involve public relations, my favorite was interning at an event company that specialized in weddings! I loved being apart of people's happiest day of their lives and seeing an event come together. Freshman year, I joined Alpha Chi Omega and met some of the most amazing and inspiring girls that became some of the best friends I could ever ask for. I am honored to be a member of the chapter and have served as the Assistant Fundraising Chair and Vice President of Chapter Standards and Relations over the past few years. I am also apart of a loving Young Life group that has been one of the biggest blessings of my life. I have grown so much as a person and as a Christian through their love and devotion. They are always there for me and make me believe that anything is possible.

Why I Ride

Cancer is something that everyone is affected by. I have seen cancer kill people and kill their families in the after-math that the disease brings. I ride for my grandfather on my father's side of the family. I am blessed to have an amazing maternal grandfather, but I have always wanted to know my father's father. He died from lung cancer before I was born, so I will never have the opportunity to know him. I am told all the time that Grandpa Hoffman was one of the most sarcastic and opinionated people ever. My parents have always told me that I remind them a lot of him and that he and I would have been inseparable. It frustrates me that so many families are affected by this disease and that after all of the medical advances that have been made, people are still dying from this. I was never good at sciences and unfortunately that has not changed since I have been in college. I knew that I would never be able to find a cure for cancer in a lab, but through Texas 4000 I want to make moves to finding a cure for cancer by spreading the message of the organization and fundraising for the cause.
