Hope
We will instill hope through our actions and our stories. Each rider has been personally affected by cancer, either through experiencing the disease personally or by having a loved one who has. As survivors, we will share the story of our personal experiences with cancer and chronicle our ride to show that through prevention, detection and treatment, one can achieve great things.
Knowledge
We will share knowledge by serving as a portal for cancer related information. We are working closely with the American Cancer Society and the doctors at the MD Anderson Cancer Center to create a comprehensive collection of cancer resources that we will distribute through our website and during our ride. In each of the communities we visit, we will present informative literature and lectures, where we will describe the risk factors associated with various types of cancer, present in-depth information that highlight the importance of awareness and testing and provide a comprehensive list of resources for those affected by this disease.
Charity
Our actions stem from and will serve to promote a spirit of charity. Our riders feel so strongly about this cause that they are each raising $4,500 (a dollar per mile) to aid in the fight against cancer. Moreover, in as many as nineteen cities across the Western United States and Canada, we will donate our time by volunteering in cancer treatment centers and local cancer awareness events. Finally, by staying in local community centers, such as hospitals, universities, schools and churches, we are perfectly posed to rally these communities around a common cause of wellness through prevention and early detection.
