by Lily Gross Mar 21, 2006 Hi Team, Gimpy here, simulcasting from Apt 110. Just got back from the orthopedist. The good news is I may still be able to do the ride come June 3. The bad news is I need surgery. Doc O'Meara explained that the fibular bone not only broke but also twisted a few degrees. He wants to secure a titanium plate to the two fragmented pieces. We're looking to schedule the procedure for Monday. Recovery time (read: when I can walk) is 3 weeks, and he estimates another 3 to 4 weeks before cycling. No prob, we can handle that... And hey, now that I'm temporarily handicapped, Dan might even be able to beat me at leg wrestling. :) I won't lie, I'm feeling a bit blue. I'll miss training with y'all. And believe me, hobbling around a huge campus: not so much fun. But I figure with a positive attitude, and your support, this is just a minor setback. Also, I've gotten so many sweet phonecalls, visits and even flowers. I love and truly appreciate you guys. Special thanks - to Grizzy for organizing this Saturday's party - to Ky for breaking my fall and for the butter pecan Blue Bell rescue - to Vanessa and Brian for dissembling Flatt Damon - to Waters, Tony, Baxley and Nate for keeping me well-entertained - and to Dan for the shake, picking up my Rx, and keeping me company Don't know how many social events I'll have my *usual* energy for, but I will do my best. Hope to see each of you soon.... Love, Lily
