by Laura Noll Jun 08, 2004 We're chillin' here in Norman and man you should hear what's going on in the other room. It's a kareoke (Sp?) extravaganza. OMG. This is insane. It's like 10 in the morning. We've ridden 3. 5 miles, had 3 crashes, 1 flat, and a lot of breakfast. This is just hilarious. Brett B. singing "sugar pie, honey pie... you know that I love you" is just more than words can describe. Last night was great. We stayed at the community center here. We got to take full advantage of the wirl pool, bowling alley, and hot showers. Nice. Our hosts have been so great everywhere. Mr. and Mrs Wiese- thanks so much for breakfast (best scrambled eggs ever!). Speaking of caloric intake, to all your people at Bicycle Sport Shop in Austin who thought some of us were too skinny to complete this ride... I don't think you have to worry about it. I would say we're all taking in about 3000++ calories in excess of what we actually need to ride 75-110 miles a day. Seriously. I have been astounded by the generousity of peopel whereever we've gone. There are so many people behind this cause, it's really inspiring. It has given me renewed confidence in strangers. There really are a ton of good people out there. It's easy to forget that when you're trapped in a urban bubble with your daily stress and depressing news. To all you 9 to 5ers out there- it doesn't have to be like that! It's all about perspective. That's what's been great about this trip (the constant change in perspective. Today we ride into OK city. I am going to try and get my rear wheel trued because it got pretty badly knocked in the van. To all Carly's friends who have been reading my journal... Ya'll rock!!! Wink wink. Yesterday's ride was pretty good. Waaaay too many flats (collectively like 17+). It was raining but the drop in temp was greatly appreciated. Aight ya'll I'm out... there are songs to be sung!
