First Real Training Ride

If you're training on a stationary... I'm sorry.

First real training ride for the semester made the time I spent on the stationary bike a joke. It wasn't even really a long, hard, ride. Perhaps the 7am time had a role, but I must say, I've got myself a sore bum. Met up with Sam, Mario, and Nick @ Greg to do a piece before I had to get stabbed at the SSB (allergy shots, YUCK). Shoal Creek was a nice ride, brisk, not hilly, but I've got a LONG way to go to be in shape for this ride. I started singing "I'm a maniac' near the end of the ride. Got the idea off some Aussie girl on the im bball team we beat last night 73-8. Oh yes, and since all three of those guys were Rockies, the trash talking has begun. The coastal team needs to get their butts out of bed to help back me up.

Props to Sam for letting me drift and making sure I wasn't too left behind.

Also, yesterday Sam and I went to BSS to check out the goods there. Found a time trial wheel that cost upwards of $1300. And I think it was per wheel. Crazy. Also went to 360 Cycleworks since they have free bike maintenance lessons at 6pm Wednesdays. Learned how to clean and detail a bike, along with degreasing, lubing, and changing a tire. It was amazing at how much gunk had built up in on the chain and cogs. Alok's bike sure is shiny and pretty now. The guys up at 360 sure were friendly and didn't make me feel like an idiot for being a novice. I think I'll buy a saddle or shoes from them. I think next week I'll go back to 360 to learn how to replace brake pads. I like being handy.

Handy Dandy indeed. The lady administrator at the SSB that checks me in for my allergy shots is also a hardcore cyclist, so she imparted some wisdom about cycling, after tweaking the bike (yes, the bike follows me like a puppy). I think I'm going to look into some Selle Italia saddles. The Flite Gel Flow for Women look nice and hard.

Tomorrow another ride! After all, a little pain is a lot of weakness leaving the body.

I'm a MAAANIAC!

PS: Happy 15th to my little sister Grace. Hope that you'll one day get to do something as cool as this ride. And stay away from boys, they have cooties.
