Day 70: Palmer to Anchorage

Today was the end. I awoke and found it hard to pack. The ride dedication took 2 hours as everyone shared what the whole ride had meant to them. Before heading out I had to run and buy a new helmet to replace my melted one.

John and I raced to the Mirror Lake rest stop as fast as we could. I crossed the line to find Mom, Jim (my step-dad), and Grace (my little sister) cheering me on. I talked to them before setting out for the final 26 miles of the trip. It was raining and cold with a bumpy road, but nothing could dampen our spirits. We froze our butts off at the regroup, but it was worth it to roll into the final stop as one huge group. I shared hugs and tears with everyone at the finish line. I had a quick dinner before heading off to Mom's hotel to get showered and warmed up.

I went to the Moose's Tooth, a brewery and pizzeria with some others. It was nice to talk a bit about the ride before settling in for bed.

We did it! 4000 miles of riding all the way to Alaska. I am sure I don't know yet how much this ride with mean, but I look forward to sharing it with all of you.
