by Samuel Kutscha Aug 13, 2010 The Dease Lake Challenge riders left early in the morning to attempt to ride 210 miles in a single day. I was later woken by Jinyang and got ready quickly. To avoid annoying other campers we did our dedication at the entrance of the park. The ride was a short 60 miles but we still managed to see three bears, one of which came crashing out of the woods right next to where we were riding. After the second rest stop, as soon as the sag van left my front tire went spontaneously flat. The tube had inflated into the hole left by the self tapping screw I had run over two days previously. I tried to use another tube but that only lasted half a mile. My patch kit lasted even less. Shilen and I flagged down some cars and asked them to get the sag wagon. We went ahead and sagged into the lodge. The lodge had a sauna and a hot tub which I uised to great effect. We all ate at the lodge which was a nice change. It was delicious but expensive so we suplemented with dehydrated food. I went to bed, but for once it wasn't early. Yay!
