by Laura Noll Jun 05, 2004 Today was our longest day yet. Ten hours on the road. The riders cycled 110+ miles through a very confusing maze of Fort Worth construction. Props to them. I took my first off day in the van and tried to make sense of our not-so-good maps. But we made it! We're staying at a hospital here in Sherman and everyone has been great. We got the opportunity to speak with several survivors (amazing stories!) and several people who are struggling with sick loved ones. For me at least, today was sobering. The accumulation of the stories I've heard over the last couple days is really starting to settle in. The success stories give me a lot of hope, but it is impossible not to be touched the hardship that comes with a cancer diagnosis. My heart goes out to those who are in the middle of such a struggle. Tomorrow we leave Texas. Our team is strong and the future looks bright. We have successfully navigated ourselves through the first couple organizational hurdles and now it's off to Alaska. We have really come together as a group and the attitude of the team as a whole is very positive. I have been quite impressed. It is that cohesion that is enabling us to focus on what we set out to do- bring hope and awareness to those in need.
