A day in the life of T4k

I am trying to blog as much as I can and so this time I'd like to give a little insight of what we riders experience. First of all I think every rider feels absolutely lucky to be a part of this organization and team. Everyone we have met along the way has been so generous and has opened up with their stories. It's amazing to see the enthusiasm and concern our hosts have for us. Neil in OKC called me a day later we had left concerned we were caught in the thunderstorms supposed to go our way. The weather reports we full of mini lightning bolts with a dark cloud. Then we'd go for our ride only find beautiful sun, however the winds picked up as we left OKC. Then I just got an email from Patti from Living Word Fellowship telling me how cancer has affected her personally and the community in Guymon. They were such awesome hosts. Thank you for opening your hearts and doors to us.

So far we have not had much rain but losts of sun. So much my left leg is truly burned and have been applying aloe vera. I still have many burn spots. I have so many bug bites all over my legs and they are finally going away to give way to sunburn, saddle sores and a rash. Honestly, I don't care, cause I'd rather fight the winds and body aches with the team on the bike than not do this at all. We have learned a lot from each other and will continue to grow. We get an average of 5 hours of sleep a night, bike an average of 80 miles a day and spend an average of 8 hours on the bike a day. On a short day we will sleep in until 6a.m. and then get on the road at 8a.m. Long days.... well you can imagine when we get up. We definately depend on each other every single day of this trip. You feel hurt when one of your teammates cannot ride because of an injury. They would rather be battling the 30mph headwinds than sitting back and watching. We gather every single morining and do a ride dedication. We have rest stops with fun themes to keep the entertainment going and have name our vans. ( I forgot the names. TBA soon)

There is just so much to explain and this blog does not do a justice of our experience. This is why I truly appreciate everything that happens on this ride. So many people tell me they wish they could do this, but they are honestly the ones that help keep us going. They are our support, our laughter, our joy and our inspiration. I remember working hard and preparing for the ride; calling hosts, imagining what the cities would look like and how the ride in general would go. Now, here we are in Las Aninmas Colorado, finished with day 14. Now we have biked over 700 miles, gone through rough roads, tears, and great smiles.

I think I ended my las blog with "now I'm going the bed" and this one will end the same. I'll try and get 6 hours tonight.

Thanks to all the new T4k family members (you hosts) and all my teammates, family and friends.

Until the next blog...
