Day 6 - Lindsay TX to Ardmore OK.

I was the sweep for the day. This means that I am the designated last rider at all times to make sure nobody gets lost or forgotten about. The day started off very foggy and misty, but the team was ready to knock out the 76 miles including a border crossing. Speaking of which, it is a T4k tradition to have border races. Since I was sweeping, I had another rider, Kate, sweep for me for the 10 mile race. The riders who stood up for the race was Jack, Dan, Brett, Jordan, Wilson, Whitney, and myself. We had a solid pace-line for the first 8 miles going an average of 20mph then we were to break away when we thought suitable to sprint for the state line. Long story short, I stayed right behind the first 2 riders because I knew they were sprinting way too early. Once I had seen the finish line about half a mile up I put it in the top gear, ripped it, and ended up winning! The rest of the ride was awesome and we spent the night in a gracious church in Ardmore. The church leadership supplied an awesome dinner and solid breakfast.

Day 7 - Ardmore to OK city - 120 miles

Our breakfast was at 5:30 am and we rolled out at 6am. We were blessed with a 20mph south wind. To sum up the day it was long, hot, and full of surprises in terms of directions. We had some wrong turns and it was a longer day then planned. I just got out of the shower and now we are getting ready for dinner, We are staying at OK Christian University with a very very very generous host. Today I learned that conditions will never be perfect, directions will not always be 100 percent clear, and you can't always have things go the way you want them. Regardless, you have the people in your life around you at all times to get you through the times that are not ideal. This also applies with fighting a disease like cancer. There were times today that I felt like stopping to take a break, questioning people about why things were not working out, and became frustrated with myself. But I was able to bring myself back to the right mindset when I thought about the many many people who don't get any chances to take on a cause or epic journey and all of the wonderful people in my life.

ps- Some guys and I visited OU's campus to leave a surprise for them and take some funny photos. Ask me sometime for details.

I could type forever, but we are going to eat now.

Thank you to everyone,

John
