we are here!!! 70 days later and we roll into anchorage. this is not to say the ride was easy since last i posted. the second to last day was a little brutal. between miles 40 and 60 there was a 2 mile gravel section we had to be sagged over by means of a vehicle. fortunatly the van was stopped at the same time my group was, but after we got dropped off the van took off to sag more riders and drove off with anderson and my helments. so we had to wait 40 min to be sagged and then 40 more min to get our protective head gear back. after that we climed for the next 20 miles. but that is over. we rode into anchorage on the 9th. a texas ex met us at our camp that morning and rode with us for the rest of the day. the rest of the exs set up a rest stop for us 10 miles out of town. from then on we were on this little bike path with lots of turns, and would have been an awsome ride except that we were in a 42 person double pace line. it was like a psycho yo-yo twisting among trees and speeding through anchorage. when we got to alaska pacific university, there was a welcoming committee waiting for us. a bunch of exs (even an aggie ex) made an awsome bbq dinner. but it was alaska style. there was salmon, halibut and carribu steaks. delish. right now i am with a few of the girls and brett a. chillin out in a hotel. we have rented a car and are content to use 4 wheels as our mode of transportation for the next few days. not that we have a choice, all our bikes got loaded into the trailers today to start the drive back to austin tommorow morning. i have no real plans right now, except there is this glowing box in our room which displays colorful pictures. some people call it a tv. looks interesting.
